Durga Puja is performed in the Ashrama every year. It is celebrated in the temple in autumn. On Mahashtami day, a large number of devotees come and enjoy the Kumari Puja. Thousands devotees partake of khichuri Prasad in the day time on that day. On the Dashami evening the image is immersed in the river Mahananda. Mother Kali is worshiped in image at Malda Ashrama every year. The whole night puja and the continuous Kali-Kirtana create a Bhava-Gambhira atmosphere. Large number of devotees attends the puja and Prasad is distributed to them in the morning. In 2017, Durga Puja was celebrated in the temple from 27th September to 30th September. Like every year this year also a large number of devotees gathered to watch Kumari Puja. Khichuri Prasad was served amongst 4000 devotees on the Ashtami day. On the Dashami (30th September) evening at 7.30 p.m., the image was immersed in the river Mahananda. The whole night Kali Puja was performed in the temple on 19th October, 2017 and prasad was distributed to all the devotees next day morning.

1) The Holy Mother’s birth-tithi was celebrated with due grandeur. Special Puja, Homa and Pushpanjali were performed in the temple. There was a special talk on Sri Sri Maa Sarada Devi. A total of approximately 2500 persons took prasad during the noon. Sri Sayan Banerjee (Kolkata) performed devotional songs at the temple after evening prayer. 2) Swami Vivekananda’s tithi-puja was observed on 8th January, 2018. Special Puja, Homa and Pushpanjali were performed. The life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda were discussed on this occasion. A total of approximately 2400 persons took prasad during the noon. Sri Bhargav Lahiri (Kolkata) enthralled the audience with his rendition of devotional songs in the evening. 3) Sri Ramakrishna tithi-puja was observed with pomp and grandeur on 17th February, 2018. Special Puja, Homa and Pushpanjali were performed in a serene atmosphere. There wasdiscussion on Life and Sayings of Sri Ramakrishna on this occasion. A total of approximately 4500 persons took prasad during the noon. Dr. Chandan Kumar Roy (Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata) presented devotional songs to the assembled devotees after evening prayer.


The Annual Programme of the Ashrama was held in the field adjacent to the temple on 10 & 11 day of March, 2018. Swami Purnanandaji (Acharya, Probationers’ Training Centre, Belur Math), Sri Subhendu Mukherjee (Headmaster, Raiganj Coronation High School), were the speakers at the religious meeting held on the two days. Two dramas were presented by the drama group, Vabishyat Natya Gosthi from Howrah, namely SATYA SANGHA and DARPA CHURNA. A total of 400 devotees attended the programmes on the two days. The Prize Distribution of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Shishu Sadan was held as a part of the Annual Celebration and was attended by the students and their guardians.

Swami Vivekananda’s birthday, 12th January, 2018 was observed as National Youth Day. In the morning,Swami Vivekananda’s statue (near the Ashrama) was garlanded by theSecretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Malda; the District Magistrate, Malda; the Chairman, English Bazar Municipality and other dignitaries. Afterwards a colourful procession of about 2500 students, devotees and other citizens of the town walked through Mokdumpur, K. J. Sanyal Road, Rabindra Avenue, N. S. Road areas of the town. It ended in the Ashrama. There were banners, festoons, flags and different tableaus of Swami Vivekananda during the procession. All the participants in the procession were served refreshment packets on behalf of the Ashrama.
